FACT: vs FICTION
The Priory of Sion—a European secret society founded in 1099—is a real organization. The Vatican prelature known as Opus Dei is a deeply devout Catholic group that has been the topic of recent controversy due to reports of brain-washing, coercion, and a practice known as "corporal mortification." Opus Dei has just completed construction of a $47 million National Headquarters at 243 Lexington Avenue in New York City. All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate. ( Please note Gentle Reader, all of this is as they say in the state of Iowa- HOGWASH!)
PROLOGUE
LOUVRE MUSEUM, PARIS
10:46 P.M.
Renowned curator Jacques Saunière staggered through the vaulted archway of the museum's Grand Gallery. He lunged for the nearest painting he could see, a Carravagio. Grabbing the gilded frame, the seventy-three-year-old man heaved the masterpiece toward himself until it tore from the wall and Saunière collapsed backward in a heap beneath the canvas.
As he anticipated, a thundering iron gate fell nearby, barricading the entrance to the suite. The parquet floor shook. Far off, an alarm began to ring.
The curator lay a moment, gasping for breath, taking stock. I am still alive. He crawled out from under the canvas and scanned the cavernous space for someplace to hide.
A voice spoke, chillingly close. "Do not move."
On his hands and knees, the curator froze, turning his head slowly.
Only fifteen feet away, outside the sealed gate, the mountainous silhouette of his attacker stared through the iron bars. He was broad and tall, with ghost-pale skin and thinning white hair. His irises were pink with dark red pupils. The albino drew a pistol from his coat and aimed the long silencer through the bars, directly at the curator. "You should not have run." His accent was not easy to place. "Now tell me where it is."
"I told you already," the curator stammered, kneeling defenseless on the floor of the gallery. "I have no idea what you are talking about!"
"You are lying." The man stared at him, perfectly immobile except for the glint in his ghostly eyes. "You and your brethren possess something that is not yours."

So begins infamous book by Dan Brown called the Duh Vinci code: It relies on what I call the gullibility factor that is you must suspend your intelligence what we do when we watch David Blain or any other magician as he makes a rabbit turn into an elephant or some other thing that as you watch seems impossible and yet you saw with your very eyes what seemed to be impossible!
But wait! is there something hidden beneath the surface? Perhaps if we consider some terms that you may or may not be familiar with the first is Calumny [false and malicious charge or the expression of damaging or malicious opinions] something like what the cartoon depicting Mohammad ( Now the Islamic people rioted [violent public disorder] over an attempt to be funny]
Should We as Christians sit by and allow the likes of a Dan Brown, or Sony or Ron Howard to speak libel , [ action, crime or an instance of injuring a person's reputation by something written to speak evil of for the purpose of injuring and without regard for the truth] or slander [malicious gossip] the ONE that 1/4 of the World calls the SON of GOD?
NOT Me! What you read at the beginning can be checked out by anyone who has the least bit of desire to know the TRUTH about Jesus Christ!
Why would someone in this day and age want to Blaspheme or to speak in a manner of irreverence toward God?
Well without belaboring the issue it is the same as if someone spoke evil of your mother (you'd fight at the drop of a hat wouldn't you? Well someone has spoken against My Lord, My Saviour, My God! And as a "Real Christian" I'm not going to let this pass. Now don't get me wrong I believe in Grace I belong to a Grace group. We study Grace we treat people with Grace but I won't let anyone treat my God, MY Saviour MY Lord with such utter disregard and callousness.
To stand by and allow such to take place to me is tantamount to denying the faith once for all delivered to the saints!
It's time to take back our heritage to stand up for Jesus Christ. If we don't stand for something we'll fall for anything! As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:...Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. [Colossians 2]

D'you know what made me cross was Tom Hanks suggesting that the film would do the church good because any publicity is good! As if God would need a sacrilegious film to champion His cause! God could raise up the stones to proclaim His Holy Name if we don't do it! He certainly wouldn't use a film of lies Mr Hanks. But every knee will one day bow to our Lord Jesus Christ and proclaim He is Lord of all, including the deceived/deceiving Dan Brown.

In every court action that has tried to stop this film and book from being released has failed. It is a work of fiction and as such should be appreciated as a piece of art.
The novel is not an attempt to over turn the church. Moreover, you have to respect (preferably without patronisation) that not everyone shares your belief in God (as evident by the millions of people, a lot of whom are Christian, who bought the book and will see the movie).
Have faith in your own followers; they are intelligent, if they chose to believe in Christ before then what book is going to change that belief?
There are plenty of people that need your help and time - go help those people. Stop using your time and energy to attack a work of fiction, and rely on the intelligence of your followers to interpret it as such.
If I understand it, I don't think it is the true followers of Christ that the post was concerned about, is it? The true followers of Christ know their Saviour and nothing can stand in the way of their true belief. But it is dangerous for those who don't know Christ and who might be sent down the wrong path because certain parts of the book are alleged to be historical fact. A millstone around their necks, if you like.
In addition, Christians should stand up against anything which threatens to bring the precious name of Jesus into disrepute. I don't believe the post was patronising, but rather passionate. If we are not truly passionate about the true gospel of Christ then we may as well give up right now. God does not want the lukewarm, the lukewarm He will spew out of His mouth.
I hope that one day pb you will be truely blessed by the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, because there is unbelievable joy to be found there and such freedom. But until then please understand, if anything attacks the gospel of Christ, then do not be upset if the followers of Christ attack that work.
Although you are right it is a work of fiction, but there are many deceptions in the publicity surrounding the book/film that suggest that there is enough truth in it to cause those with weak faith to doubt the true gospel and to push people away from Christ. Therefore we must speak up in defense of the truth.
