Scars, stars and "tough times"

rainbow in Ireland

Gentle readers,

This is Palm Sunday, and Palm Sunday is the day when Christians celebrate the triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem as he rode on the back of a tiny donkey. The scriptures record that those who revered and adored Jesus laid palm leaves in His path and cried "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" (Mark 11:9)

The people were excited about Jesus Christ. They were celebrating His greatness in the streets, but as Jesus rode into town, he knew that the celebration would be short-lived. In the final week of His life, Jesus experienced the highest and lowest moments of His existence. He went from praise and palm leaves to a crown of thorns within a matter of days.

This story is similar to what Americans all over our country are experiencing today. Millions of us have gone from moments of celebration to moments of mourning. Countless families have celebrated weddings, births, graduations, and baptisms in one year only to mourn foreclosures, war casualties, and layoffs during the next year.

If you are reading this blog tonight and this is you, remember that the crucifixion of Christ is not the end of His story. Christ Jesus rose again, and he specializes in helping us to resurrect the things that may appear dead in our own lives. Don’t become discouraged because things look bleak for we have a saying in Irish that translates like this, "
I believe that the sun still shines even on the darkest days and behind ever dark cloud is a rainbow coming".

Don't lose your faith in God's resurrecting power this year. He is still all-powerful... even when times are tough.

Remember, " tough times never last tough people do"!

Love, Denis
